Responding to Change
Responding to Change
25th August 2011

The Source understands that in our ever changing world, doing our bit for the environment will make a vital contribution to improving our future. That said, we have taken on board feedback from our staff and customers to make small changes in our daily roles that will make a big difference to our environment.

We are rolling out changes and initiatives to our teams which are already working for us:

Lighting sensors - as a large conference venue, our offices and rooms continuously use lighting. We now utilise lighting sensors more efficiently and have reduced the sensor times to ensure lighting is only used when necessary.

Cycle to Work scheme - we encourage staff to participate in the cycle to work scheme, where staff can purchase a bike tax free through the business and pay for it over a period of time through their salary, in turn reducing the number of cars on the road.

Computers 4 Africa donations - we are not wasteful with old equipment; we recently donated 50 computers to Computers 4 Africa. Computers 4 Africa transforms communities across Africa, by accepting working redundant P.C's and IT equipment from individuals, corporates and other organisations in the U.K. Once securely data wiped, the donated computers are then shipped out to schools, colleges, libraries, clinics and specific projects in Africa.

Turning off computers and monitors - leaving computers and monitors on standby can cost companies thousands of pounds every year. It's a small change, but by turning off computers and monitors, you could save your business hundreds and even thousands of pounds.

We believe that by making these small changes in our workplace, we can make a big difference to the environment and we encourage other local businesses to think twice about their environment policies.
