Kerry, tell us a little more about your role at The Source.....
My role as a Telephone Engagement Officer is to research Sheffield Businesses under a certain criteria and tell them about the Opportunity Sheffield Project, a new service provided at no cost to the employer by Sheffield City Council and funded by the Council, Yorkshire Forward and the European Regional Development Fund to provide impartial help and support to Sheffield's employers. As I give employers a brief outline of the project, I try to identify how the project would benefit their business. At that point I book an appointment for one of our experienced Account Management team to visit the business and discuss this in more detail.
What do your day to day duties include?
Researching businesses is a big part of my role as many businesses are looking to recruit, need help moving forward or would like to develop their workforce. My duties also include calling thousands of businesses, booking appointments at a suitable time for the business, completing documentation capturing information regarding the business and sending lots of emails!
What are you enjoying most about your role so far?
Speaking to different people every day is something I enjoy the most. It's always a challenge to speak to the decision-maker as they are understandably busy most of the time but as soon as they hear about the fantastic project they don't want to let you go!
What did you do before working at The Source?
Before I came to The Source I worked as a Quality Co-ordinator for a large telecommunications business. I am very passionate about excellent customer service so I really enjoyed the role.
What skills do you bring to your role?
I have previously worked in various different industries including Finance, Retail and Hospitality so I can always relate to the business I am speaking to. I am also very confident so I can speak to just about anyone, even if they're having a bad day!
And the million dollar question for December...what is on your Christmas list this year?
There are so many things I would like for Christmas but I think I need some nice warm coats to cope with this weather....and possibly have Brad Pitt deliver them for me!
