DebRA Charity shop in Rotherham is celebrating after scooping the ‘Best Charity Shop' Award at the first Act for Rotherham Business Awards.
The Awards, which were advertised by Act for Rotherham business group in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Rotherham Borough Council, were the first of their kind and saw more than 60 traders going head to head in a variety of categories. The winners were announced at the event at Rotherham Rugby Club on 06th February.
DebRA in Rotherham was awarded ‘Best Charity Shop' after receiving secret shopper visits judging the store on layout, cleanliness and window displays.
Christine Myers, Manageress of the DebRA Charity Shop in Rotherham, said: "The DebRA Rotherham store has only
been in existence since September 2009 and to have been awarded ‘Best Charity Shop' already is a fantastic achievement. After hard work to launch the store, this is great recognition for the whole team. Our store is wheelchair and pushchair friendly and we do whatever we can to ensure our customers receive the best shopping experience possible. We are very proud of this accomplishment."
DebRA is the national charity working on behalf of people in the UK with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). DebRA provides practical support and funds research into EB, a rare and currently incurable genetic skin condition, which affects children from birth. It is fatal in the most severe cases and even in its mildest form causes lifelong disability and pain. People affected by EB rely primarily on the range of specialist support services provided by the charity rather than the NHS.
Mike Denby, Business Communication Manager at The Source, is supporting DebRA with staff recruitment and training and said: "DebRA is a hardworking charity that supports a fantastic cause and we are proud to be working with them. The Act award is testimony to the team's attentiveness in making DebRA the best charity shop in Rotherham and it is fantastic they have been recognised for this."
