Meet the Team - Jackie Goucher
Meet the Team - Jackie Goucher
22nd January 2010

Meet Jackie Goucher, Administration Assistant at The Source Sheffield Showcase project located in Sheffield City Centre. Jackie joined The Source this month and is responsible for assisting the overall running of the visual merchandising project.

Jackie, tell us a little more about your role at The Source.....
The role is to assist the Visual Merchandising Manger and Work Based Tutor by taking over the day to day tasks enabling them to concentrate on the apprentices.

What do your day to day duties include?
Typing,  data input,  health and safety checks, hospitality, reporting to events for Sheffield City Council , window bookings, holiday requests, stationery ordering, involvement in new initiatives and development of all required paperwork and last but not least process improvements; it is a very varied role!

What are you enjoying most about your role so far?
The variety of tasks and the team of people I work with.  Also, I am not at all artistic and I really appreciate the work completed by the team of apprentices.

What has been your most unusual job role ever?
Laboratory Assistant. Quality testing batches of car products (Brake Fluid, Anti Freeze, Paint etc ) to ensure the product reached the required standards.  The testing was the easy part, the problem was telling the factory foreman that the product failed to meet the required standard and would have to be destroyed!

Do you have any hobbies or interests?
I enjoy gardening, walking and travel.

What are your New Year's Resolutions for 2010?
My main resolution is to lose some weight. My last job entailed driving for three to four hours a day and the weight has gradually piled on over the last few years. I travel by tram now which is a 25 minute walk from where I live; I now need to cut down on the chocolates!
