Future Inspiration at Insight
The scheme, launched in 2008, has been a great success and is expected to be rolled out in other locations across the UK and potentially into mainland Europe in the near future
Insight, a leading provider of IT products and services worldwide, initiated the flagship Apprenticeship scheme in Sheffield to offer candidates the opportunity to discover how the company operates and how each department within the organisation contributes to ensure Insight is a successful and well rounded company. This will eventually lead to a career within the organisation in any number of disciplines and functions.
The Apprentices participate in a qualification whilst working at Insight and The Source is delivering the qualifications to the individuals, all of which are making excellent progress.
Hayley Buxton, Recruitment Resourcer for Insight, said: "Each Apprentice has gone above and beyond to meet our expectations and the scheme has been such a success, we are encouraging other areas of Insight to follow suit. We have a great partnership with The Source and this is reflected in how much the Apprentices enjoy their work."
Insight offer two unique ways to learning either via Rotation, where the Apprentice will rotate around four areas of the business on a 30 month programme, or Specialist where the Apprentice will work in one area for a full 30 months. This marks the end of the apprenticeship and the start of a career with this Global business, in an area of the apprentice's expertise's and competence. Further training and development opportunities remain open to further expand their knowledge and progress in their chosen career.
Lauren Dey, who is participating in a Business Administration Apprenticeship, said: "The best thing about the Apprenticeship is that at the end of our learning, we have a career waiting for us and opportunities to develop within the company. Rather than just either studying or working, we can do both. I have gained more confidence within myself since commencing my Apprenticeship at Insight and have learnt about working in a business environment. This is preparing me for my future."
Insight Sheffield's Apprenticeship Programme is set to grow this year and the organisation will be introducing up to eight new Apprentice's to the scheme in 2009. This is due to the extraordinary success they have witnessed and experienced.
Mike Denby, Head of Employer Engagement at The Source, said "Insight is a great example of a local company, with Global reach, who value the importance of Apprentices within an organisation. The aim of their scheme is to produce shining stars who one day aim to become future business leaders in our region. At The Source, we are fortunate to be able to work with such a forward thinking company, supporting their objectives for the future."
