Meet the Team – Jane Ridge
Jane, tell us about your role at The Source
I am a Recruitment Consultant at The Source working with my colleague Sarah to support retailers. We process job opportunities through the Jobsheet and website, promoting all available roles. I interview prospective jobseekers and shortlist individuals for second interviews for retailers, constantly liaising with organisations to make them aware of the services we offer.
You have only been at The Source a short time, how have you found it so far?
I have been at The Source for two months at the end of June and it's great. Because I have come from a completely different role, I am still learning about the company, but I am really enjoying it. It's great to learn about how much we support people in South Yorkshire, as I never knew all the different services The Source offer.
You have an extensive retail background, tell us more about where you worked previously?
I worked in fashion retail for 40 years (yes - I don't look old enough but I started when I was three! Only joking!) I started my career at Cockaynes, working there for 15 years before being promoted to Deputy Buyer. I then opened my own fashion boutique that I owned for three years. After owning my own business, I moved to the Arcadia group for almost 24 years, throughout which time I was Store Manager at Dorothy Perkins, Arcadia Sales Manager at Debenhams and Store Manager in Principles - I really am retail through and through!
What are your hobbies and interests?
I enjoy keeping fit and have recently enrolled the services of a personal trainer. She puts me through my paces once a week and gives me a programme to maintain, however I am always in trouble for not doing enough!
And the million dollar question for June... What is the thing you are most proud of?
I think I am most proud of my resilience and versatility. I was made redundant this year and felt as though I was on the scrap heap. I picked myself up and found the role I am in now on the Jobsheet and have never looked back!
