Team members from The Source in Sheffield were limbering up this month to take part in the ‘Jane Tomlinson Run for All 10K race' on Sunday June 21.
Dianne Wainwright, Mike Denby, Clare Smith, Franca Kelly and Ann Jones had put themselves through their paces for the last six months in order to ensure that they were fighting fit and ready for the challenge.
Mike Denby, Retail and Business Communication Manager at The Source, said: "The team worked hard to train for a great cause and it was a memorable day. The team pulled together to support each other throughout and it was a great achievement."
Despite having injured her leg determined Clare Smith still participated in the race and colleagues Ann Jones and Franca Kelly pushed her through the course in a wheel chair.
She said: "It's such a significant cause that I didn't want to let my leg complaint get in the way of me being able to take part in the race. I'm grateful to Ann and Franca for agreeing to push me round, but I hope they didn't find it too hard!"
The runners from The Source made up part of Leeds City College's 115 strong team taking part in the race. Both establishments form part of the, recently launched, National Skills Academy for Retail and work in partnership across the region to support and develop this area of industry.
The Jane Tomlinson Leeds 10k 2009 started on The Headrow, taking in many of the city's landmarks. It is a charitable event for people of all abilities, whether they choose to jog, walk, run, wheel or watch. For more information visit http://www.runforall.com/.
